Digital Creativity and Cultural Dialogue Across the Alliance Française Network
Houda Bakkali has developed since 2024 an international artistic and educational programme within the Alliance Française, centred on the dissemination of digital and immersive artistic practices as tools for expanding access to knowledge, creativity, and intercultural exchange. Implemented across 36 cities in 22 countries, this project brings together artistic production, learning environments, and public cultural spaces through exhibition formats that combine physical displays, digital content, and immersive technological experiences.
Most of Bakkali’s exhibitions have been accompanied by talks and masterclasses examining the challenges and opportunities that emerging technologies present for artists and cultural organisations. These activities explore how technology-driven artistic practices extend beyond traditional canvases and physical exhibition settings, generating impact in fields such as healthcare, scientific research, education, and cultural development.
Within this institutional context, Bakkali has designed and implemented hybrid exhibition models that interconnect on-site and virtual environments, enabling the simultaneous presentation of artistic productions across multiple geographical and cultural contexts. These approaches prioritise accessibility, interdisciplinary learning, and the development of virtual and technological literacy, positioning technologically mediated art as a pedagogical, research-oriented, and knowledge-transfer medium.
Since 2024, Bakkali has participated in international cultural programmes organised by the Alliance Française and the Institut Français, including the Month of Francophonie and Novembre Numérique. During the 2025 edition of Novembre Numérique, coordinated by the Institut Français in Paris to promote global access to emerging technologies and encourages dialogue between creators and audiences through exhibitions hosted in embassies, cultural centres, universities, galleries, and public spaces worldwide, Bakkali’s creations were presented simultaneously in 11 cities across 9 countries through interconnected exhibitions demonstrating the capacity of digital artistic expression to generate shared cultural experiences while preserving strong local contextualisation.
Through the Alliance Française, Bakkali’s artistic practice has been presented in a wide range of academic, cultural, and community-oriented environments. These include solo exhibitions at Alliance Française of Abu Dhabi, Al Riwaq Art Space in Bahrain and the Hayy Jameel cultural complex in Jeddah, where her exhibitions were focused on public engagement with contemporary digital visual culture.
Her projects have also been exhibited in academic and educational institutions, including Colegio Laico de Valdivia (Chile), Discovery School de Cuernavaca (Mexico), Terrapuerto de Trujillo (Peru), University of Piura, and Universidad Privada Antenor Orrego (UPAO). In addition, her art and creative vision were presented within the Sofar Kampala cultural festival in Uganda, further expanding the geographical scope of her artistic dissemination activities. Likewise, Alliance Française network in Ecuador presented the exhibition Digital Art, Digital Culture by Houda Bakkali, developed in physical and virtual formats across five venues (Guayaquil, Loja, Quito, Cuenca and Portoviejo), along with a free workshop exploring the challenges, opportunities, and wider applications of digital art and augmented reality.

Extended Reality as a Framework for Artistic Innovation and Cultural Dialogue
Bakkali’s artistic output encompasses physical artworks, augmented reality experiences, immersive and interactive pieces, digital animation, audiovisual productions, virtual exhibition environments, and video projections. This multidisciplinary approach encourages the integration of artistic creativity and technological innovation as a means of facilitating knowledge exchange across different cultural spaces.
The exhibition framework “Digital Art, Digital Culture” by Houda Bakkali, reflects the academic and cultural objectives underpinning her practice, demonstrating how digitally mediated artistic production can operate as a universal platform connecting diverse audiences and broadening access to artistic and educational resources. Within the Alliance Française network and its institutional partnerships, Bakkali’s work is situated within initiatives that support international cultural dialogue and examine the role of technologically driven artistic expression in knowledge production and intercultural exchange.

Art beyond Art: Universalité
“Bringing my work to five continents through the Alliance Française represents one of the most meaningful opportunities to share, learn, and enrich my creative process.
It is a continuous growth experience shaped by the excellence of France, the richness of Francophone cultures, and a cultural, linguistic, and artistic dialogue that extends across the globe.
Through this experience, art and emerging technologies not only transcend generational, temporal, and physical boundaries, but also become a powerful expression of creativity and innovation that unites us in diversity, fostering collective growth and the construction of a shared future through enthusiasm and education.
I extend my sincere gratitude to the Alliance Française, as well as to the professionals and institutions that have supported my work and welcomed it into their spaces and communities with remarkable respect, dedication, and commitment.”— Houda Bakkali
