“Divertimento”, the work dedicated to the Sanremo Casino by Houda Bakkali
Press Release, August 2021
Houda Bakkali is in love with the city of Sanremo and its Riviera, so much so that she dedicated the work to them The Flowers of Happiness, a canvas that exalts the joy of nights at the Casino. With Divertimento Houda repeats this passion, a work included in the Loving Italy collection that expresses the euphoria and joy that the Gaming House is able to convey, where elegance, music, games and magic blend with the cheerfulness of color.
Houda Bakkali, who with the collection Life is Beautiful is exhibiting in Monaco, has among her upcoming commitments several artistic events that will take her to Europe and the United States before returning to Sanremo and the Casino, where she could exhibit the paintings dedicated to her love for Italy.
“We thank Houda for the passion she expresses with her overwhelming colors towards our city, our flowers and our Casino,” underlines Barbara Biale, member of the Board of Directors of the Casino di Sanremo, “I have already been able to admire the work The Flowers of Happiness donated to the Flower Museum, a structure to which I have remained very attached. It was inaugurated under my administration and bears witness to the indissoluble relationship between the city and its floricultural tradition. It is beautiful to note that in just a few years has become central to the tourist and cultural promotion of our floricultural production and tradition. The work Divertimento also expresses the same energy, that power of color with which Houda will be able to bring her message of optimism to the Casino as well of optimism towards the future.”
HOUDA BAKKALI | AUGMENTED REALITY, SANREMO 2021
This work has a double meaning: on the one hand, it is inspired by settings that evoke the splendor of Italy, its festive and entertaining character, its exuberance, its everyday artistic life, but at the same time also its aesthetic elitism, its intensity and creative excellence, its passions. It is a visceral and passionate work. A contemplative conception of beauty and forms, recognizable, easy to understand and embrace, that embraces color and beauty. Art without fear, without regrets, a tribute to hope and happiness in these dark times. Loving Italy looks to the essence of the Renaissance, the Baroque and Romanticism, periods in which the universal geniuses of art left us all the master principles that we continue to recreate today and that continue to inspire us. The work shows this dual reality without fear of altering the order of things in order to discover harmoniously chaotic and dreamlike scenarios, yet always harmonious.
