Her commitment to advancing effective health communication has also been acknowledged internationally. In 2024, she received the American Illustration Award (New York) for her project “Art for Health”, which integrates art and health to enhance clarity, accuracy, and impact in medical communication. Previously, in 2020, her series “Creativity Against Covid-19” was included in the global #UNCOVID19BRIEF campaignlaunched by the United Nations and was subsequently awarded by the International Motion Awards (New York).
Her work underscores the essential role of communication in healthcare, particularly in supporting patients, families, and medical professionals. By combining new technologies, innovative communication strategies, and creativity, her practice contributes to a more sustainable, accessible, and understandable healthcare ecosystem, pointing toward a future in which technology, communication, and creativity reinforce one another.
Art, tech & science
Houda Bakkali presented her art at the Can Travi Civic Center in Barcelona as part of the Empoderat Festival, an event sponsored by the Barcelona City Council. The exhibition was distinguished by two pieces that seamlessly integrated artistic creativity with new technologies as a medium for conveying medical and scientific content.
The project by Bakkali highlights the versatility of digital tools in communicating complex medical and scientific content, adapting messages to diverse audiences to ensure clarity, accessibility, and engagement, while promoting high-quality information, prevention, and early diagnosis.
In this context, the canvas emerges as a high-impact communication medium, transforming socially relevant knowledge into an accessible public asset that transcends spatial, generational, and temporal boundaries, while enabling real-time updates and the measurement of communication impact.
