Since 2009, Houda Bakkali has been actively engaged in the field of medical and health communication, conducting more than 100 interviews with leading physicians across multiple specialties. Alongside this work, she has developed editorial, multimedia, interactive, VR and AR projects, as well as an AI-based healthcare application, creating communication and educational content focused on health at a global scale. This long-term educational initiative has been recognised with the WIS Certificate (Web of Health Interest).
Her commitment to advancing effective health communication has also been acknowledged internationally. In 2024, she received the American Illustration Award (New York) for her project “Art for Health”, which integrates art and health to enhance clarity, accuracy, and impact in medical communication. Previously, in 2020, her series “Creativity Against Covid-19” was included in the global #UNCOVID19BRIEF campaign launched by the United Nations and was subsequently awarded by the International Motion Awards (New York).
Her work underscores the essential role of communication in healthcare, particularly in supporting patients, families, and medical professionals. By combining new technologies, innovative communication strategies, and creativity, her practice contributes to a more sustainable, accessible, and understandable healthcare ecosystem, pointing toward a future in which technology, communication, and creativity reinforce one another.
Art, tech & science
In 2025, Houda Bakkali developed an innovative project exploring the intersection of art, medicine, and new technologies, presented with great success at the Can Travi Civic Center of the Barcelona City Council.
The project focuses on the versatility of digital tools as a means to convey medical and scientific knowledge, adapting messages to different audiences to make them clear, accessible, and engaging, while promoting high-quality information, prevention, and early diagnosis.
The canvas becomes a high-impact communication medium, transforming socially relevant information into an accessible public asset that transcends spatial, generational, and temporal boundaries, while enabling real-time updates and measurable communication impact.
