Houda Bakkali presents Digital Art, Digital Culture at Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport, transforming the airport’s Terminal 3 Exhibition Hall (Arrivals Area) into an immersive cultural space. The exhibition is open to the public from May 2 to May 31, 2023.
Conceived as a dynamic intersection of art, technology and digital culture, the exhibition offers a didactic and immersive journey through augmented reality, the metaverse and cutting-edge visual narratives. Large-format physical canvases are interwoven with animated and immersive digital versions, redefining how art is experienced in a public space.
At the core of the project is a strong educational dimension, guiding visitors through the creative process, the tools used in digital artistic production, and the most advanced digital platforms, while addressing their uses, challenges and opportunities. Through this multidisciplinary and multiplatform approach, traditional canvases come to life through augmented reality, turning each artwork into a communicative, informative and playful medium that goes far beyond the canvas itself.
Digital Art, Digital Culture by Houda Bakkali, positions digital art as a powerful contemporary language, engaging audiences in key debates around augmented reality, Web3 and the metaverse. The exhibition invites visitors not only to observe, but to participate, question and reflect, breaking down myths and stereotypes surrounding digital art and highlighting its growing relevance in today’s creative landscape.
With this exhibition, Houda Bakkali reinforces her commitment to creating immersive, accessible and evolving art experiences, where art and technology converge to inspire, inform and captivate audiences in one of Spain’s most transited public spaces.
The exhibition focuses on the Arab female figure, paying homage to the artist’s mother.
