Houda Bakkali presents Digital Art, Digital Culture at the Alliance Française Penang as part of Novembre Numérique 2024, an international initiative led by the Institut Français to promote access to digital culture and emerging technologies through artistic and educational projects.
The exhibition explores the intersection of physical artworks and augmented reality. The project proposes an expanded exhibition format in which traditional artistic media are complemented by immersive digital layers, interactive and audiovisual content offering visitors new modes of interaction and interpretation.
The exhibition is supported by a virtual gallery, multimedia content and educational materials designed to introduce audiences to the principles of digital art, its practical applications and its cultural and technological challenges. Together, these elements frame digital art as both an artistic language and an educational tool within contemporary visual culture.
Through the integration of augmented reality, virtual environments and multimedia resources, the exhibition examines how emerging technologies can enhance communication between artwork and audience. This approach encourages active participation and situates the viewer as a key component of the interpretative process, fostering a dynamic dialogue between physical art, physical space, digital content and public engagement.
By combining artistic practice with educational mediation, Digital Art, Digital Culture demonstrates the capacity of digital and immersive technologies to expand access to contemporary art, facilitate cross-generational learning and support new forms of cultural exchange beyond spatial and temporal limitations.
The exhibition centers on the female figure and gaze, as a tribute to the artist’s mother. Through the use of intense colors, dynamic forms, and an intersection of illustration with voluptuous flowers, it seeks to convey a joyful, hopeful, and optimistic vision of life.
