Houda Bakkali signed her first artwork in 2008; however, her first major career milestone occurred in 2018 in the iconic city of Cannes. She was awarded the “New Talent” prize at the International Festival Artistes du Monde, a prestigious event supported by the City Hall and Nice-Matin, bringing together artists from around the world during the week of the Royal Regatta at the legendary Pointe Croisette.
Her work stood out as the only fully digital exhibition, with a strong focus on Africa and the female figure, celebrating women’s emancipation, beauty, and strength. Conceived as a message of freedom, creativity, and future vision, the project was developed using digital tools and deeply inspired by the artist’s mother. The exhibition generated significant interest for its innovative technique, technological approach, and distinctive creative process.
It was a tremendous honor to begin my artistic career in Cannes, the capital of cinema, the cradle of Mediterranean light, and a symbol of universal glamour. An absolutely unforgettable experience. Always grateful.
