On March 25, the legendary Reial Cercle Artístic of Barcelona hosted the presentation of the newest artwork by Houda Bakkali, that was the first ever exhibition that interweaves mixed technique canvases with augmented reality and the woman figure as the protagonist in this iconic space that has more than 140 years of traditions and artistic legacy.
Bakkali highlighted the additive values that new technologies have for traditional art, new technologies such as augmented reality, as well as the new value and usefulness that digital art acquires in cultural, medical, educational, sports or tourist environments, among others.
“Digital art is versatility, innovation, and imagination. A canvas confines content to a fixed space, digital tools make it infinite, adding tremendous value across industries.
Digital art empowers us to craft diverse narratives and messages, measure audience engagement, trace impact, and respond with immediacy. It embodies change, dynamism, and innovation, concepts essential for traditional art to embrace as part of its own evolution.
It opens new doors for artists and institutions, fostering deeper engagement with audiences. In many ways, it democratizes art, making it more accessible, more easily understood, and more memorable. It helps unravel the messages within artworks and offers insights into the lives and creative processes of artists in a more interactive and educational way.
New digital artistic spaces and their multiple formats serve as a gateway to appreciating traditional art and allow art to transcend its conventional boundaries,” Bakkali stated.
