Houda Bakkali is a multidisciplinary artist and leading expert in the application of new technologies to art. Her work seamlessly blends artistic expression with educational innovation, and she regularly conducts lectures, masterclasses, and workshops for institutions around the world.
Bakkali’s artistic journey began in 2008, and her work has since been featured at prominent public and private venues across the globe. In 2018, she received the “New Talent Award” at the Festival Artistes du Monde in Cannes, France, an accolade that catapulted her to international recognition.
She has signed pioneering exhibitions, including the first-ever solo immersive art showcases that merged large-format physical artworks with augmented reality and immersive experiences, celebrating the Arab female figure at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas and Málaga-Costa del Sol international airports.. She also signed an innovative educational exhibition across six Civic Centers in Barcelona, highlighting women through digital art, didactic spaces, and new technology. Likewise, Bakkali signed a pioneer immersive and multimedia educational project honoring “Don Quixote”, one of literature’s most universal works.
A four-time recipient of the “American Illustration Award” in New York, Bakkali has also been honored with the “International Motion Award” (New York), the “London International Creative Award”, the “Paris Design Award”, and four “Graphis Silver Awards” in New York, among many others distinctions. In 2021 she was invited to be a part of the firs ever Web3 artistic initiative by iconic American magazine TIME.
Since 2009, Bakkali has spearheaded a transformative project focused on communication and health, exploring how technology and creativity can enhance medical communication. Her piece “Art for Health”, employs cutting-edge digital tools to raise awareness through art. This impactful work was recognized with the prestigious “American Illustration Award” in New York in 2023.
